Magnum Energy LLC plans to build underground cave

Magnum Energy LLC plans to build underground cave at a depth of about 1,5 kilometers to store there liquid air, which will be used to generate electricity.

Build underground storage facilities is planned near the city of Delta, Utah. In this region, are located underground salt reserves, which will be washed out with special equipment. The first phase is planned to construct a storage facility for natural gas produced in the Rocky Mountains, in the vicinity of the repository.
Once the technology will be tested, Magnum Energy LLC will the construction of storage facilities for air. The sponsors stress that the compressed air can be considered one of the cheapest ways to store electricity.
For example, on a clear day solar power plant will produce a surplus of electricity. It will be sent to the compression and injection of air. When electricity is needed again, the air is forced to turn the turbine. Thus the authors of the draft plan to resolve the main difficulty in the widespread introduction of clean power - difficulties with the storage of electricity.
