From Antarctica broke giant iceberg
The attention of climatologists around the world these days is focused on the giant iceberg had broken away from Antarctica. Chunks of ice broke away from the Mertz Glacier and moves to the shores of Australia. According to scientists, this iceberg was driven out into the ocean by another giant iceberg B9-B, which went into free diving in 1987. The surface area of the iceberg - 2,5 thousand square kilometers, which is comparable to the territory of the Duchy of Luxembourg.
Scientists fear that the emergence of such a large ice formations in this area inevitably affect the cold ocean currents and climate in the southern hemisphere.
Earlier World Service monitoring glaciers reported that most glaciers on Earth is melting so fast that by the middle of this century they will disappear.
