The doctors talked to the person who are in a coma

LONDON, February 5. A person in an unconscious state for 5 years, was able to communicate with doctors, who used magnetic resonance imaging to understand the responses of the patient. This kind of communication will provide an opportunity to establish contact with people who are in coma, say British and Belgian scientists.

According to the "Medical Information Network", the researchers used a scanner (MRI scan) to be able to communicate with the man who in 2003 had an accident and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. Physicians asked questions and using a scanner monitored brain activity, which reacted differently to questions to be answered "yes" or "no".

Experts said that the result of this work means that for people who are in a coma, you should change the care and try to communicate with the scanner, causing their brains at least some way to work.

Recall earlier experimenters from Argentina and the UK, studied the difference between the state of minimal consciousness, and vegetative state, came to the conclusion that even in a coma, patients are able to form memories and learn at a primitive level. The opening will learn to distinguish hopeless patients and those patients who still retained at least some hope of recovery. In addition, it will help doctors to develop techniques for the gradual return of people from the state of coma, scientists believe.
