Pope Benedict XVI for the first time paid a visit to a synagogue in Rome


Pontiff hopes that this visit will be a milestone in the relations of Jews and Catholics.

Israel described the visit of the Pope in the Roman synagogue main event of historic significance.

President of the Assembly of Rabbis of Italy, Giuseppe Laras month before the date announced that the rabbis of Italy will no longer do anything together with the Catholic priests.
